First post; and how I really got into books.

In 2013, I set a goal to read more books. Setting and achieving this goal was one of the most transformative events of my life.

Up until then, I had not completed many books, and most of the ones that I did were school assignments. This bothered me. I had a "respect" for writers and a "desire" to read and learn more, but these sentiments did not manifest into reading more books. These sentiments were passive. I was often passive. I didn't set many goals for myself, and when I did, I often forgot about them after a couple of days.

However, somehow I met this goal. Some of the things that I did to cultivate more reading:

  • I blogged about some of the books I read.
  • I tracked my activity on Goodreads.
  • I joined book clubs at work and at the local library (I think I was the only member under 50 years old).
  • I made mini-goals with friends to read books at the same time and talk about them.

Now reading is a habit and a huge big of my life. I always have a couple books that I'm working on. It's rare that a day goes by where I don't read. I feel that this habit has changed me for the better.

Fast forward to 2021; I have a goal to learn web development. As I was thinking of web projects that I could start, books naturally came up as a subject for potential project. So that leads to the site you see here.
